As Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal Secures Bail, What Are the Next Steps?

Three Immediate Priorities for Arvind Kejriwal Following His Bail: Delhi Cabinet Meeting, National Capital Civil Service Authority, and Reorganization of the Council of Ministers to Reincorporate Former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia

Six months after his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and subsequently by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the Delhi excise policy case, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is poised for release from jail.

The Supreme Court granted Kejriwal bail on Friday. He has been in CBI custody since June 26, in addition to being held by the ED.

While Kejriwal is now out on bail, he faces certain limitations on his ability to carry out his duties as Chief Minister. The conditions of his bail restrict him from visiting the Secretariat or the Chief Minister’s Office, and he is prohibited from signing documents unless they have been cleared by the Lieutenant Governor. Officials believe these restrictions might pose some challenges for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, but they are expected to be manageable.
